B. Canberra would be great if it were 200-300 m higher, indeed there are places just to the east within commuting distance that are 800-900 m ASL. Being at a tick under 600 m means it does not quite escape the threat of a hot summer, though nights remain comfortable all year round. Likewise, 600 m is just that bit too low for snow in winter (800 m or higher is required in NSW).
There is a town called Braidwood which is about 60 km east of Canberra which sits at 643 m ASL. Being further east means it receives a seabreeze most afternoons, whilst nights are generally cooler than Canberra as well. Braidwood just sneaks into A- territory as a result (though snow here is uncommon).
B for me, has some nice seasonal variations without really getting too hot or cold. Rainfall is consistent throughout the year, would preferably have a bit more rain though, regular snow would be nice as well but on that front its as good as you'll get for a city of its size in Australia.
Pretty good climate. The winter gets an A. Similar to Rome, Italy averages for winter with around 5F colder nights. The only issue is the summer has nights that are too cool. I'd say B-, the minus for the cool summer nights.
Probably a B. The best of the large Australian city climates IMO. The only australian city id consider living in, although people say its a bit 'sterile'
