New York City - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Tokyo - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tokyo is of course warmer/hotter (depending on perspective) than NYC. NYC is much sunnier, though. The difference is at least 500 hours.

I really like Tokyo winters - relatively dry, with only handful of rainy days per month, and sunny. The average temperatures are almost ideal too - just cold enough to make it feel like winter but still very mild.

Tokyo summers are another matter. While average temps don't seem excessive, I bet the heat indexes make them feel much more oppressive than the temps alone might indicate.

I also don't like the overly wet fall months which is rather atypical of East Asian climates.

NYC is closer to a true 4 season climate with cold winters and slightly less hot and humid summers (if that is your cup of tea). But the lovers of rain and cloud might still go for Tokyo.

I would, but Tokyo's lower sunshine hours trump that. NYC winters aren't reliable enough, IMO. They're certainly better, but Tokyo's winters are refreshing enough.

NYC.Tokyo's summers can be horrendous with the humidity, and snow is no guarantee (though it's been lacking in NYC recently as well). NYC's summers are also too hot, but at least they aren't as long as Tokyo's being at 40N as opposed to 35N. Only two bad months in NYC (July and August), the rest are fine by me.

Another tight battle NYC edges out Tokyo for its higher snowfall and sunshine hours. Would be very happy in either though, would rate NYC an A and Tokyo an A-.

Tokyo

Tokyo has milder winters.

I like palm trees, Tokyo's climate is better for palms.

Both are hot and humid in summer, a tie.
