Ohhhh guys, today was so very beautiful, and guess what???? I got to be outside in it for a small amount of time. The high was 82, a slight breeze carressed me as I wandered about in my yard, trying to decide what to do with my now dead flower beds. Really, I enjoy this type of weather and look forward to getting caught up with my work so I can go outside and read a good book, while drinking some great sweet tea. It got down to around 51 this morning. Supposed to be around the same tonight. yippie...even my dog has perked up and wants to play.

Aiangel, why are your flower dead already? I'm guessing they didn't freeze off so what happened? Luckily, mine are still blooming.

The severe drought and excessive hot temps. There are trees all around the area that did not survive this summer. It is really sad.

I do have some things living, but not many. My Japaneese Maple is dying and I should just put it out of it's misery

I do have my shrubs, they survived, lost my rose bushes, and other blooming plants.

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. It is too bad that some parts of the country had such drought this summer and other areas were flooded. But that's usually the way it goes.

Extreme drought in my area too. Temperature for the month of September is 3.2 degrees above normal, so far.

aiangel, same problems with my garden areas. Have 6 separate gardens around our little 1/2 acre and so many plants didn't make it through the drought that we experienced this past summer. I watered as much as I could but even that didn't seem to help some of the plants that I hoped would make it. Some of my bushes even look bad. Sorry about your Japanese Maple, they are such beautiful trees.

Maybe the strongest of our plants will survive the winter and come back even better next spring...

I have already decided to rip out most of the garden, sigh, and just start over, going for a much simplier plan. I could not water, we are directors of the water association and live in a super small place, and sigh, people do talk. I tried hauling water after dark for a while, but that didn't last long.

The cool season grass is finally starting to show signs of greening up again in the eastern Kansas and western Missouri area. However, it has been extremely dry here as well, and a drought could be starting again. Some of the trees have been doing poorly and the leaves have turned brown on the maple trees. The terrible heat last month was likely the culprit.

We have had a ton of rain this year here in north TX....we are literally about 25 inches above normal. Last year we were in a drought so go figure.
We've also had a few mild days but this whole week is warm to hot again and the a/c is back on..sigh..highs about 90-92 through Sunday or Monday. C'mon fall...lol
