OK fellas, here is a nice 3 way climate battle!! Which one would you choose??

Singapore: H&H year round--goes without saying
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Singapore#Geography

Schefferville: Bitter cold winters, mild summers
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scheffe...Quebec#Climate

Kerguelen: Raw cold (but not bitter cold) year round with precip 300+ days/yr and very windy. Little seasonal or diurnal change in temps.

I'm going with Kerguelen as I really don't mind overcast days. 500 to 1000 hrs annual sun is plenty for me. Heck....I love flying in weather like that with turbulence and instrument condidtions!

Tough choice between Schefferville and Kerguelen. Schefferville is a bit colder than ideal, but I would love having a "guaranteed" winter with ample snowfall. Summers are a tad cooler than ideal as well, so generally the climate as a whole is on the cool side for me. But I definitely wouldn't complain about it. Rainfall looks decent and sunshine hours are great. So Schefferville it is.

Wish I knew how much snow Kerguelen averages a year - doesn't seem like it gets very much, if any at all. Just cloud and drizzle all year, it seems. Singapore is out, as I can't handle high heat and humidity year round - I get enough of that with our Georgia summers...lol.

So Schefferville it is - at least I can count on heavy snow each winter, and the short summer does give some variety in the climate.

I don't like any of these climates, but I pick Shefferville for reliable winter snowfall.

I concur. Schefferville has a guaranteed winter, unlike Kerguelen where moisture for the most part comes in the form of rain in wintertime. Although it's colder than I like I'd prefer subzero averages to a subpar winter. Summers are nice in Schefferville, so with very decent winters and nice summers, Schefferville wins. Kerguelen is also nice in the summer, though a bit chilly, and has nice sunshine totals, but that gives it no advantage over Schefferville.

Schefferville is my choice. Kerguelen is too warm in winter and offers no advantages that Schefferville does not also possess, and Singapore is a winterless, uncomfortable stinkhole of a climate that gets a grade of F- from me. Vostok Station gets a C from me, because I'd much rather have a winter than no winter at all, even if the winter is way too cold for my preference (it certainly beats being way too warm). Vostok is still habitable without a spacesuit, unlike Mars, though I think I'd even choose an average climate on Mars over Singapore. That's another topic entirely and I do not wish for this thread to be hijacked. Carry on with the climate comparison of the subarctic vs. subantarctic vs. tropical.

It was between Singapore and Schefferville for me. Kerguelen islands are too blah year-round for me. I ended up choosing Singapore because Schefferville is really too cold in winter and doesn't warm up enough in summer. I prefer a perpetually warm climate to a perpetually cold one. Though it's maybe my feeling right now and on another time of the year I might have chosen Schefferville over Singapore. Tough one.

Singapore obviously for me.. it's comparing an A+ climate to a D- climate (Kerguelen) and an F climate (Schefferville)

Kerguelen has nice summers so I choose it over the other two.

Schefferville is a tad cold...

Singapore is out of the question.

Schefferville by a mile, the other two are miserable for different reasons. Singapore is hot and humid year round with no respite, whilst Kerguelen is frustratingly cold year round with snow in fits and starts like Macquarie Island through its winter.
