4 PM EST FRIDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ALBANY HAS ISSUED A LAKE EFFECT
SNOW ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM THIS EVENING TO 4 PM
EST FRIDAY FOR HERKIMER COUNTY.

* LOCATIONS...HERKIMER COUNTY

* HAZARD TYPES...MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW

* ACCUMULATIONS...3 TO 9 INCHES. THE HIGHER TOTALS WILL BE NORTH
OF INTERSTATE 90 IN CENTRAL AND NORTHERN HERKIMER COUNTY.

* MAXIMUM SNOWFALL RATES...A HALF AN INCH TO AN INCH IN AN HOUR
WITHIN THE HEAVIER SNOWBANDS THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING.

* TIMING...SNOW WILL BEGIN PRIOR TO MIDNIGHT AND CONTINUE INTO
FRIDAY AFTERNOON.

Check out Burlington Vermont temp departures and probably most areas were similar.

20-25 degrees below normal for the highs and lows today.

I love how they pick and choose a stat like this. Then again, it goes to show its actually snowing more down south at Latitude 31.75.

The 2.9" of snow received in El Paso, TX yesterday was more than Chicago and Philadelphia have had this season...combined


And now there's 4" at El Paso!

Who would have thought coastal CT would have more snow than Denver and Chicago put together and the same as Minneapolis by January 3rd?

Here’s a pie chart of how much snow has fallen this winter so far.. I thought it was interesting to put together, considering the fact that Connecticut has received more or the same amount as these locations which are known to be snowy.

BDR normal snowfall to date is 4.3". They have 16.2!
BDL normal snowfall to date is 14.7". They have 15.8.

Could the coast be the new snow-belt region? lol




As far as yearly averages...here are the 63 year averages for these locations. Take note of BDR’s average and comparison to others.



Chicago: 41.5”
Bridgeport (BDR): 27.5”
Hartford (BDL): 47.8”
Minneapolis: 51.6”
Denver: 58.6”
