Saw in front of a local restaurant a bench made of ice! And below was a carving of 2013 in giant letters. Wonder how long it will last (assume it was put out right at New Year's)?
Dont say I didnt warn you. I forget when I first mentioned this but too tired to look back.
NAM Long Range for Saturday afternoon. Not that bad looking for New England but then again, normals are in the 20s and 30s.
I prefer our normal winter weather to tell you the truth. By that I mean upper mid to upper 30's to low to mid 40's for high temps. These over 20F swings above normal in temp inevitably lead to deep swings in the other direction. I know we are going to either get really hit in Feb, or maybe even March with temps well below normal.

I'll go on a limb and say that south of NYC is immuned to the arctic air this year so dont worry about it. NYC will basically be on the southern fringe of any teens we get from now on. And even still I dont see it being sustained.
Looking like the snow will be confined to SE England - if that's the case, then I hope we get raging zonality and a massive High Pressure over continental Europe before it happens. Would rather have no cold spell than a snowy spell for the SE only.
