For the Chicago area, the number of 90 degree days varies by station and proximity to the lake. Lakeshore communities, especially along the Northshore see the fewest. Southwest and south suburbs see the most.

Average number of 90F/32,2C days in Chicago

Chicago/Lakefront: 12
ORD (10 miles from lake): 17
UofC (2 miles for lake): 18
MDW (9 miles from lake): 24

UofC and MDW have strong UHI's. ORD resembles many north suburban stations.

Some suburbs

My suburb (south): 28
Marengo (northwest): 20
North Chicago ( north near lake): 11
Antioch (north): 14
Barrington (north): 12
Joliet (southwest):30
Naperville (southwest): 26
Aurora (west): 21
Elgin (west): 17
Streamwood (west): 28
Rockford (northwest outlying): 28

I would like at least 35 days of 90 degree weather

There's not a hope in hell of getting more than two days at 75°F a year where I live so the question is redundant in my case.

I'd prefer around 20 to 30 a year. That's enough to feel like summer but not enough to make me too sick of summer.

Highest on record for my area is 91, lowest is 11.

In the 90's? Zero. I'd be perfectly happy with lows/highs of 50's/70's year round

None. I've had my fill of heat after living in a desert for 20 years.

I like 90, 91 maybe 92 but not higher. We chose the area in SC that we live in for that reason. You'll find me pool bound!

For Alexandria, LA the average is 91 days of at least 90F (for 1981-2010) with 4 days on average of at least 100F.

I would prefer about 60 days in the 90s and maybe 1 day reaching 100F.

Where I live, I prefer zero of them. Atlanta gets really humid in the summer, being a 6 hour drive from both the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean. 90 F with all of that humidity is awful.

Now, it I lived in a place where the humidity levels were much lower, then I can put up with 90 F weather. I went to Dallas,TX one summer. It was around 100 F. 100 F felt better in Dallas than 85 feels in Atlanta. Drier air.
