New Mexico mountains are your best bet
Any range: Sangre de Cristo, San Mateo, Manzano, Sacramento
The best are the Magdalena Mountains just west of Socorro
Located near the summit of South Baldy 10,783ft
is the Langmuir Atmospheric Lightning Research Laboratory
It is open to the public during summer "monsoon" season
(June 20 to Aug 20)
You can live nearby in the historic old village of Magdalena
elevation 6500ft (it has a very nice climate, rarely too hot or cold)
