Not that we have any control over the weather, but if we did...

I would gladly give you a colder winter than this past year every year. You would never have to worry about snowless, 50-degree winters such as 2012. I'll try to give you respectably chilly winters with consistent snow cover. In return, when spring comes, i want it to actually be spring! No more overcast, chilly Saturday afternoons in May. Weather like this is not going to cut it for May. No need for grey skies and a cool wind out of the Northeast this time of the year. Under my climate, we will only have to deal with Northerly winds in in October through March... once spring hits, the flow will shift to the South.

I am not a fan of having chilly weekends such as this one in the spring and summer! Of course, it was spectacular out yesterday when i had to work.

I have a "no deals policy" when it comes to a particular place's weather, and that implies exactly what it says. I would be unwilling to negotiate anything away. Still, I appreciate the sentiment, and though the above or below normal thing is only a difference of a few degrees, i.e. irrelevant on a world scale, your deal is an improvement over what your location usually gets.

This reminds me of the heat-miser vs. cold-miser negotiations from "The Year Without a Santa Claus" . Then they were debating territory; something I'd be willing to negotiate over, i.e. the tropics vs. poles vs. mid latitudes.

There is no point. People are just different. Some do not enjoy, indeed even tolerate warm weather. Other people hate the cold and don't care for even a single snowflake. They prefer to have a year-round summer. There is never going to be one climate that pleases everyone. Even in middle of the road climates like NYC, many people (at least many people on this forum) will be miserable for a good 4-5 months. Which 4-5 months obviously depends on the person.

The thing is, I'm not a cold lover as much as I am heat hater. How about mild winters combined with mild summers?

I'll deal with a hot summer in return for sufficiently cold and snowy winters. I can actually tolerate it, I just dislike it.

:Negotiation In Progress:

If we give you Spring like weather we need a real winter and not just "colder than last winter".

Here's my proposal.

November-February
100 days below 32F.
110 nights below 25F.
7 Snowstorms over 10 inches
3 snowstorms over 4 inches
Only 3 hours of sunlight a day for 10 of the 16 weeks
No complaints from Spring Lovers.

This deal expires at midnight on 5/20/12

Hmm, I can deal with the days below freezing, plus nights but not sure I want all the snow! I like my snow storms to be 5-6 inches, of course, we usually get several during a winter over 10" but not 7!!!
