We've managed a staggering 8.2 hours for the first four days. The first three had < 1 hour collectively.
It is Groundhog Day here in Brisbane with continual showers every day. Forgotten what a clear, sunny day looks like!
Campbell Is (which had observers in 6-month shifts years ago, for a long time):
8/5/1992 to 6/7/1992 (60 days): 4.1 hours
21/4/1992 to 19/7/1992 (90 days): 8.7 hours.
wow I find that almost impossible to comprehend and could not start to imagine the suffering of less than a full day's worth of sunshine spread out over 3 months Is there an official station there that measures sunshine and feeds the data to a website, like the BOM does?

da fuq?! Looking at Brisbane's monthly stats, it's been practically overcast for 5 of the last 7 days. February appeared to be cooler and much cloudier than average and wet aswell.... seems like the new theme of summer for coastal NSW and SE Qld.
This summer here has got to be the sunniest in a while. Clear skies forecast for the next 7 days at least and every day above 30C.

We had an amazing spring and start to summer, so this has been a big turnaround .
Long term residents are saying it is one of the wettest summers they've experienced and we've already made half our annual rainfall. Of the last 21 days, we've had measurable precipitation on 19 of them (four of which had > 40mm).
Our sunshine hours are down as well. Hopefully this summer eastern coastal trend is not too long term!
8.6 hours of sun so far this month. I fear the tables have turned.. well, I come to expect such weather during winds of any easterly orientation in spring.

The manned station went automatic in 1995 for temp. and rainfall registration, and there are no "shifts" on the island now. I presume they could set up an electronic instrument for the sunshine (though it would need to be checked occasionally for possible calibration drift), but that's an ongoing conversion exercise for the whole country.
22.7 hours up to the 11th, 19 of those coming in a two-day period on the 4th and 5th. Am looking forward to seeing at least some sun tomorrow after another six-day spell of constant overcast. The last three months have given us some big negative anomalies to make up somewhere!
