Houston looks fantastic Oct-May. At least when it's blazing hot I can get in my car without a shovel.

you can get in your car in that heat? I'm a cold weather haters but my gosh I don't even get in my car on the hottest of summer days here. I turn on the car and A/C full blast go back inside and then come back in 10 mins.

Houston, Wow, I can't believe people prefer that cold, low sun, windy climate over Houston's warm climate.

Sounds like inland central and northern Qld, but with weaker sunshine. I think I could handle that, seeing as I worked outside in the outback, where 38C highs and 25C lows are common in summer.

Is it humid where you work? I find that a temperature of 34C with a 24C dew point is more challenging then 38C with a 10C dew point.

I can't believe people prefer Houston's broiling summers over Chicago's relatively tame climate by North American standards. I doubt you'd be shoveling your car out of snow in Chicago every winter - maybe occasionally? They're really not as bad as people make out.

I've heard from cold weather lovers here in Chicago say that you can always put layers of clothing on during the winter if you want to go outside, but there is only so much you can take off if it's too hot in the summer.

And no absolutely not. You don't have to dig your car out of snow every winter. Unfortunately Chicago is tame by US standards which is why I wouldn't give us a grade better then a C... Our summers are far from Houston's and our winters are far from Bismarck's. However, the consolation is, that sometimes get a little bit of both Houston and Bismarck during the course of the year.

As for Houston, I think it felt hotter when I was there then when I was in Phoenix.

I prefer balanced climates. Houston is heavily skewed towards summer imho, hence Chicago. Actually I don't think I would enjoy summers in Houston. They're just too hot and not conductive for outdoor sports at all. Superior lounging weather though.

I don't know where B87 works, but average summer dews seem to be in the 64-68°F range in Emerald. Not Houston, but not 10°C.
