Some people actually bet on the weather in this country and although it's not as popular as betting on a White Christmas you can place bets on it hitting 100F somewhere in the country at some point in the summer. The best odds I could see were 8/1 though - they've probably gone down a lot in the past couple of days - so I won't bother. Anything 12/1 and up would be tempting though.

Can't imagine how humid 100F would be here in Berkshire. It was so humid today, it reminded me of a winter day in Puerto Rico. is it usually that muggy in this country? I'm talking 65%+ RH
Nope, so if the LRC is right, it will be the 3rd year in a row to hit 100. Most of the time it happens in July. But the real feel of 100 happens much more often.
So if it happens in June this year it will be the first time since 1966.
Another quick stat: NYC hit 100 degrees 4 of the 10 years in the 90s decade.(1990-1999)
Only once in the 2000s.(2000-2009)
We already have 2 in this decade.(2010,2011) http://www.erh.noaa.gov/okx/climate/...00degdays.html

Today felt warmer to me than a normal 26C day does, though the heatwaves we get often get more humid as they go on. Plus it's the first warm weather of the season and I'd had no time to get used to it. That 100F day wasn't actually particularly humid - only 20% or so when the temperatures were at their highest: History | Weather Underground

hahahaha, that sounds fun! Ill probably be betting on weather if i lived there!
Meanwhile, here in BA, i did a bet with myself (?) that we wont have a single 20c night in the months of June and July (coldest months here). Im hoping i win, of course

A bet with yourself? How does that work? I'm actually curious.
We don't hit 100 F every year, but we usually come close. Last year reached 99 F. The heat index was 112 F last July, one of the highest I've ever seen here.
