They need to change the scale for that map. 20+ is way too low!

That's pitiful. Even parts of the South can do better than that. Nashville's August record low is 47F.

NAM has nighttime temps into the 30s for a small area of Wisconsin tonight. I seriously doubt we'll see 30s but 40s is definetly in the forecast.
The possibility of frosted rooftops is always refreshing. At any rate Wisconsin's weather tonight will be quite pleasant (by my standards anyway).

I experienced some upper 70's recently, and it's amazing just how miserable 79F can be with some sunshine and humidity.

You can tell that the people who made that chart aren't from any place that is usually 100F in summertime. That scale should go all the way up to all 90 days being 100F+. I think that does occur in the hottest parts of the desert in some years.

I don't know what it means, either. Perhaps a hemispheric pattern change to the exact opposite of what we've been experiencing?

It was only 73 F today but it was very humid and felt like upper 80's to me! Well at least there's no heatwaves coming up any time soon, and I hope August 3rd was the last 90 degree day here until at least June. Actually it's not even going to be in the mid or upper 80's next week, only lower 80's. The cool down is starting.

I did find this.

"developing circulation patterns are generally cold the wide-amplitude swings of the jet stream"
"The polar fields only flip before or near cycle max"

I think we are starting the cool down too. But I wouldn't get too excited because September can often choke up some summery weather.

NAM was right with 30s showing up locally in Wisconsin. I wish I was there.

""While the western U.S. has been breaking record high temperatures, a cold front has been diving southeastward through the Midwest. Temperatures throughout the Midwest are already around 10 degrees below normal. This front is expected to continue to push southeastward, bringing below average temperatures to New England and the Mid-Atlantic for much of the weekend."" http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick...lon=-90.882238

Another morning with the doors and windows closed.

Living like a hermit. Like a caveman.
