An astoundingly severe storm hit the Oklahoma City metro area as of Tuesday night, 5/29/12. Two hail storms coming from two directions merged. 1 to 5 in. hail. 3 in. hail at Penn Square Mall. Nearby there the Belle Isle Wall-Mart had to close for a while to clean up the mess, due to broken sky windows. Viewers watching KOCO channel 5 weather, suddenly heard hail pounding the roof of the station. The weatherman said he had been at the station for 18 years and had never heard hail pound that hard. He added he could hardly hear himself think. The hail there was at least as big as golf ball size. Many homes in Nichols Hills, an upper class neighborhood, had windows broken out.

Power lines are down. Up to 84,000 homes and businesses without power.

A few small tornadoes also happened, but apparently not much hard hit from that. They are already talking about there maybe being hundreds of millions of dollars worth of damage from the hail, perhaps rivaling the big hail storm from 2010.

Another round of severe weather may hit Oklahoma Wednesday.

Scary stuff. 5 inch hail sounds like it could kill a person. There must be a lot of insurance work from it.

5 inch hail is monstrous. One can only hope that the residents and their possessions escaped unscathed. There seems to be a lot of severe hail this year .
