this is an impressive example from Sweden

What is the largest temperature difference between two different locations in Sweden during the same day?

In SMHI month overview from 1968, one can read the following: "In the first days of the month, there was an extreme weather situation with rare large temperature contradictions between areas north and south of the front. This went from the Baltic states over southern Götaland to Denmark. On 2 on morning had Halmstad +13 degrees, -31 Pajala. Upon and north of the front fell persistent heavy rainfall in northern Svealand and southern Norrland as snow. area with snowfall spread over the following days to the northern Norrland and caused in connection with the hard northeast wind major trouble. "

Ugerup in Skåne put the 11.2 new Swedish record highs for the month of November with +18.4 degrees. Karesuando in northernmost Lapland quoted the same day -30.0 gr. This corresponds to a temperature difference of about 48 degrees.

Temperature conditions on 2/11 1968:

Karesuando:
07:00 -28.2C
13:00 -22.0C
19:00 -28.5C
Hi: -22.0C
Lo: -30.0C

Lund
07:00 11.6C
13:00 15.8C
19:00 11.2C
Hi: 16.1C
Lo: 10.9C

Great March snowstorm in Chicago was March 25th/26th 1930, officially 19.2 inches at the UofC, but 22.3 inches/56.6cm at MDW
http://docs.lib.noaa.gov/rescue/mwr/...58-04-0146.pdf

Officially the hottest day on record for the city of Chicago July 24th 1934 when the mercury reached 105F at the UofC. Then private homes had no AC, only some public places such as movie theaters. John Dilinger went to cool off at the Biograph Theater.... Cops waiting for him when he came out. Shoot out ensued and he was killed

One day earlier Midway Airport reached 109 degrees, but again, the UofC located at one mile from the Lake, was the official station then.

Don't you just love it after a nice snow storm.

Unfortunately here, it is usually bone chilling cold after we get a dumping of snow. So it is harder to enjoy it.
