This just showed up at WeatherUnderground. Accuweather is also trying to hype a little snow. It will be a tough go with CLEAR skies, though. This comes after a high of 78° on Tuesday. The world spins and there will be plenty of time to wash out this forecast before Wednesday actually arrives. It is just the way things work.
I'd love to see 2" of snow within 36 hours of a 78F high here just to see what it felt like...hell even within 36 days would do me

It's not unheard of. Things can change very rapidly here at 5,000 ft. Last Oct. 26-27 we had 9.5 inches of snow that wreaked all sorts of havoc as there were still a lot of leaves on the trees. I just looked it up, it was 77°F. the day before it started the next night. Crazy, eh?

When moisture moves in here, the dry air cools very rapidly and we also get cold blasts from Canada. I've seen the temperature drop 35° F. in about an hour.

The Mild uppers look like they are going to have very little affect on the temperatures. It looks like an inversion is going to set up. Someone says its going to be possibly in the single figures in some places.

That would be interesting with 12c uppers in the SE.

If the current warm air was continential we could've got 70f in the SE and if the cold that was due to come (until it decided to go east this morning) were to come we could've seen a 30/40f drop in temps. Because 850s go from +12 to -8.

NWS State College.
THE CENTER OF THE UPPER LOW WILL ALREADY BE PUTTING DISTANCE
BETWEEN ITSELF AND US BY NIGHTFALL. BY 12Z SUN...IT SHOULD BE INTO
CENTRAL QUEBEC.

NWS Buffalo
LETS SET THE STAGE FIRST...A SLOW MOVING VERTICALLY STACKED STORM
SYSTEM CENTERED OVER LAKE ST CLAIR EARLY THIS MORNING WILL LIFT
NORTHEAST ACROSS SOUTHERNMOST ONTARIO AND THE LOWER GREAT LAKES
DURING THE COURSE OF THE MIDDAY AND AFTERNOON.

COLDER H85 AIR IS ALREADY WORKING ACROSS OUR REGION EARLY THIS

THE GENERATION OF LAKE EFFECT RAIN

These are great features to have for winter.

Some real autumn cold weather coming to the UK soon. These are MAX temperatures in this chart, reaching about 43-45°F where I live. If it's going to bother being cold for a couple of days it should go to town and bring snow or something interesting rather than boring cold rain and cloud though...

Was bound to happen, will still be cold though.

And Weatherfan, here is a way to deal with the onset of winter!

Quote:
Three top tips for warm lovers on how to prepare for the winter season…..

Step 1 - Cry

Crying is a useful first step, not only because it releases anguish and dread for the upcoming winter season, but it also gets rid of excess tears which would no doubt freeze in your body otherwise. It is important to note that when wiping away your tears, you should NOT use tissues that have been layered with any type of moisturising lotion, as that will only add to the potential icing danger.

Step 2 – Book a Trip South

While the Gods have cursed you with a yearly mini ice age, they have also bestowed upon mankind the gift of flight. From any major city across the land, air planes leave each day to exotic tropic locations where the only ice that can be found is the type that floats tranquilly in a refreshing alcoholic beverage.

Step 3 – Fake an Injury At Work

A wonderful extended vacation can get very expensive. In addition, as employment law and human rights tribunals have not yet recognized the inalienable right to ‘tan and keep warm’, employers are often reluctant to let workers depart for months on end. The only rational solution is to fake an injury at work and then claim long term disability benefits. For those who might be adverse to such a technically ‘illegal’ activity, please keep in mind that you may also choose to sustain a real injury. Heavy equipment can be found at most workplaces, and with a little the help from gravity, you could be well on your way to some sun and fun.
