I know that Darwin has longer lasting heat. But during the Southern Hemisphere summer of December through March, is Darwin as hot and humid ad Houston, New Orleans, or Tampa during the dog days of Northern Hemisphere summer?
The Gulf Coast often has dew points in the summer of 26C or more, and average summer highs of 32-34. Does Darwin even get summer afternoon dews of 26 that often?

Average dewpoints in Darwin during the wet season:
Oct 72°F
Nov 74°F
Dec 75°F
Jan 76°F
Feb 76°F
Mar 75°F
Apr 72°F
Pretty sure Darwin is every bit as hot and humid as the coastal Deep South if not even more so with the stronger UV. Not sure why anyone would think otherwise...

Yep, I don't even think SPI sees 7 months of average dewpoints in the low to mid 70's like Darwin does
Here is Darwin compared to two places in the US that consistently record the highest summer dew points: deep south coastal Texas and the Florida Keys. People who think NOLA and Houston are as "bad" as it gets haven't been farther south lol. Anyways, Darwin falls firmly in the "hot and humid as hell" category.
Darwin is bad at this time of the year ( Oct through to the end of April ). We don't get extreme high temps ( only 5 days exceeding the 100f {37.78c } since 1941 ). But it certainly gets oppressive, particularly in the last 2 seasons where we have had failed 'wets'.
Here is an article re April a few years ago. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-04-...record/9617574
My son has spent a fair bit of time in Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh...... he rates both cities as being more oppressive than Darwin ( probably a bit of UHI involved )
There are worse places in Northern Australia.....Wyndham, Kalumburu, Derby and Broome are all high up on the 'awful' scale during the 'Wet Season'.
