I came back to BA from Santiago on Wednesday. Yes, Sophie, this is unbearable. 36.8 C right now. I'm longing for the storm to come, to cool things down.
I actually think that summer tends to be more stable in BA than any other season, like remember last january? sunny and hot for the entire month no exception. This was the same for like two weeks until it cooled off, but i gotta say this january has been very unstable here. Like one day it was 36c and the other day 22c!! Today it was a nice 27c sunny day and starting tomorrow temps are gonna be back on summer: tomorrow its gonna be 32c and 35c are forecasted to mond, tuesday and wednesday! So lucky for you im sure its gonna be much more nicer there!
enjoy Santiago
I will be envying you on monday
Actually I think that Jan 2012 and, to a lesser extent, Jan 2011, were exceptions. January tends to be more like the current January, with heatwaves interrupted by cold air masses, bringing some relief for a while. That is my impression based on my memories of all the Januaries I've gone through in this city.
As to Santiago de Chile, you would've liked it there, especially one morning when I woke up, I had to put on a light jacket because it was quite cool and cloudy (then the sly cleared in the afternoon). That morning the temp was like 14-15 C more or less, at 9 or 10 AM. That day the high was just 25 C. All the other days the highs were around 30 C.
In Valparaiso and Viña del Mar, I was there one afternoon with no more than 20 C and cloudy skies. Really nice.
yuckk, 36.3 at 7pm!!! would it still be this hot at nightime in about an hour?
awful!
there was supposed to be a big storm today, that will cool everything off, but the day has been sunny since the morning and no sign of any storm in the sky
293 hrs apparently. Surprised it broke a record as it didn't feel exceptionally sunny. But then the inter-annual variation in sunshine hours is rather low, so extremes tend not to be so noticeable. Certainly cause for celebration though.
It's a funny day today. A cool, foggy start but clear sky now. Should start to warm up quite quickly if only the sou'wester dies down -- only just cracked 20 C at 11:15 AM. Doubtful we'll see anywhere near the 29 C forecast though and I haven't yet decided if it's worth the trip to the beach.
The second hottest night of summer after christmas eve.
I dont even dare to open my windows cause zillions of heat-bugs will come flying into my light!!!
35c (95f) of real temp and 38c (100f) of heat index at nightime. I wanna kill myself.
feel like of 99f and 75 humidity!! the dew point must be insane!! its almost 9pm by the way!
