It's a funny day today. A cool, foggy start but clear sky now. Should start to warm up quite quickly if only the sou'wester dies down -- only just cracked 20 C at 11:15 AM. Doubtful we'll see anywhere near the 29 C forecast though and I haven't yet decided if it's worth the trip to the beach.
Actually it was 289, so just by a whisker (288 in 1957, 287 in 1988). But it was much higher than 2010-2012, a little higher than 2009 (280). The standard deviation of all Jan records at the Aero (1949-2011) is 37 hours, may be slightly less for the period 1977-2011 (exposure was improved a bit from about mid-1976).

Currently 24.7C/76.5F at midday and sunny. This is the coolest it's been on a sunny day in a while. The forecast is showing highs of around 28C/82F and lows around 15-16C/60F for the next several days. I don't think I've seen a forecast that cool since last October.

Even Birdsville in the state's far west has only reached 28C so far today - a big contrast to January where it exceeded 40C nearly every day.

Currently 24 C with a 17 C dewpoint. Strangely, it doesn't feel muggy at all...

Not so humid here, a hot 38C but with dew points around 0C. Another day of clear blue skies.
