The caingorms is a beutifull place if only the whole of the UK was still cold enough in winter to sustain forest like this


The highlands do have ski resorts but its not really reliable

Are those Scots pine? It doesn't have to be cold to grow those. They grow well here.

Been there, done that Your winters in the southeast are definitely mild, compared to mine anyway. The sporadic Siberian cold waves don't count.

Yes that's true but for someone that experiences milder winters our coldwaes would be brutal to them, maybe someone from the carolinas or Southern france. And yes the coldwaves AND mildspells do count. Averages are not everything

Yes they are but forest in lowland britain are not like that, we do have them growing in lowland areas but not like those forests. But again we do see pine trees growing but not like those forests.

Those other pictures you saw were conifer plantations e.g. not native and they degrade the landscape.

Yep I know that I've walked through Rockingham forest before and they have large tracks of conifer forests. But a caledonian forest isn't natural occuring in lowland areas is it?
