Over the course of the last 30 years, 1984-2013, 31% of days in the month of November have been less than 50F (10C). This is from Heathrow data.

So, roughly 1/3 of November days in London are below 50F.

I guess it depends on your definition of "most", but over the last 30 years London has a high temp lower than 46.4F (8C) 42% of days during the months of Dec, Jan and Feb. 15% of winter days are below 40F. I think "majority" is a better word than "most", imo.

I could never get by with just a hoodie on a day with temps in the 40's. 62% of winter days in London (Heathrow) are below 50F (10C).

Interestingly enough, you would wear that winter coat less days in Philly in November as over the last 30 years we average only 8 days less than 50F in November (27%).

However, over the three winter months 72% of winter days here are less than 50F, but 64% are above 40F.

London would by far feel warmer to me in London, and it has when I was there, but I wore my winter coat the whole time and could have never just worn a hoodie, unless I wore a bunch of layers or thermal underneath.

I will have to see when we get a 'normal' winter really, as the last winters have either been very mild or cold. Last winter I was fine with a hoodie a lot of the time (except early mornings and evenings). Perhaps humidity has something to do with it, as moist south weaterly winds after a few days of easterlies feel quite mild I find. November feels chilly most of the time, but usually a proper coat is not needed a lot of the time, but then I acclimatize fairly quickly

He said the first chilly 10C day in November. It's rare that we see 10C before November.

I think outside a few in Atlanta, there is no real need for a winter coat.

Highs are rarely below 30 F. Even last winter, there were only 5 days below 30 F.

In CNJ, it isn't odd to see 2 weeks below 30 F even during a normal winter.

I voted D... though had I stayed in CT and not moved to FL, I probably would have voted E. I usually get by just fine without a winter coat but when we start getting to the low 40's and 30's I start considering getting some warmer stuff on lol.

My Girlfriend from TX would probably say B

Apparently people in Jackson, MS put on heavy winter coats with high temps of 59F in January.

Photo below was from Jan 25, 2014 (a month with a -5.5F anomaly), and yet they are wearing pretty heavy coats.

I wonder how representative these people are in terms of their winter clothing for that area? They do seem a little over the top.

I've been wearing a hoodie and coat on top of my t-shirt in the past few evenings when it has been 12C/54F

Heavy winter coat?

Almost never.

It has to be pretty much in the minus digits for me to go for something crazy warm like a full blown parka. I can't even really layer.....basically I just wear a down vest and a long sleeve shirt/sweater for anything between say....10-35 degrees. Anything over 35 degrees can be dealt with with a simple fleece vest.

I hate sleeves in coats and it has to be really, really freaking cold for me to wear them.
