I often find myself wishing climate change (aka global warming) was a bad dream and not a reality. I tried to deny it and blame the weird weather on La Nina / El Nino, but let's face it, for the last year or so, the weather is constantly abnormal.
Just this week, it went from a humid 25 degrees above normal temp of 75 down to the 30s. Yesterday saw the morning start out at 29 degrees and end up in the 60s. Next week, they are predicting more 60s. I don't like seeing the constant trend being above normal. If it is 70s in January, does that mean I'll be roasting by April, and the new record highs will be like 115? 120 the next year and so on?
If the future means long brutal summers with drought conditions, we are in for a rough ride. Many states haven't recovered much from 2012 drought as it is. It's been like two years of monthly below average rainfalls totals here. I can't remember what a full rainy day feels like anymore. Been so long.
Well 2012 started with drought conditions in parts of the UK then it turned to give us above average precipitation in the summer months and continued throughout the rest of the year. There's always seems to be some kind of record being broken even smashed!
I'm only 17 so if I live to 100 that is another 83 years to break the record.
The island has a record of 33c so that is only 7c from 40c. Which might be alot but if global warming continues to warm the earth then I can only see heat waves getting stronger.
I doubt Ireland will reach 40C!! I would think Great Britain could reach that high. A 7c difference is very high especially for an island jutted out. I'd East anglia and the SE would easily reach 40c not so much the rest of the country.
I don't think the predicted/observed warming temperatures will have a negative impact on humanity anyway. It should just increase the length of the growing season on a global scale. I don't think it's a coincidence that civilisation has flourished with the return of relatively warm temperatures in the past few thousand years.

It is possible, but the whole island is so moderated by the Atlantic, that I don't think it's likely. Most global warming predictions expect that the temperatures will rise quite moderately on the British Isles.
SE England will hit 40C for sure, but I and NI is a different story.
I claim we will hit 40C in the next 20 years, and after 20 years every temp below -40C may be the last one recorded.
