This and around 90 hours of sunshine in 8 days, absolutely incredible.
One day got to 25°C in downtown Nice at that time last year, it felt very summery. A friend and I were baking on a terrace while having lunch.

Needless to say, that is something I miss, as it really feels like we're trapped in an endless winter right now So far this month had an average high of 13.1°C (a typical January value), 4.8 hours of sun a day (a typical November/December value) and 172mm rainfall (a value higher than any average month)
Especially that both January and February have been cooler and rainier than average
The warmest day I've experienced in the past 3 months was in bloody PARIS 10 days ago

French Riviera...la blague!

It's really interesting that western Europe and the eastern US both had a warm march last year and are now having a cold March.

You posted this thread on February 4th and said that spring is "right around the corner".

It's March 18th now, almost 1 1/2 months later, and it's snowing out. So much for spring being around the corner!

About 2 inches of snow here so far. We might get another inch before it changes over to rain early in the morning tomorrow. Hopefully my school doesn't close again otherwise it'll eat away even MORE off my spring break...

More snow. 4" of snow has melted to .40" liquid (10:1 ratios). I now have ice falling. Layer above has warmed but my surface temps are staying below 32. So snow is melting up above but re-freezing into ice falling down.

Fasinating storm because of the changeovers and different temperature at different levels
Here's a look at my sounding pulled from RAP off Twisterdata.com

While I was freezing rain at 1am, long Island was rain. And it had been like that for 2 hrs.
Clearly see why and what happened.

Long Island sounding is simple.. temps were above freezing all the way to about 8000'. However the atmosphere over me across the way shows it was below freezing below 4000', The other thing was, it was too warm for all snow to form above 8000'.

So very little snow was falling at 8000'. Hits a warm layer and melts it all, then as its falling hits a large layer of below freezing temps and falls as freezing rain at the surface. fascinating!

Started snowing yesterday afternoon and I believe it changed to freezing rain overnight. Woke up about half an hour ago to a burst of heavy snow...enough to recover the roads. Fortunately all the kiddies are safe at school, so roads should be treated before they leave for the day. I'm guessing we got at least 4 inches.

First three are from last night, other three from this morning.
