Americans whine too much about weather, but a large part of it is the media's anti-winter bias makes them loathe to broadcast any opinions other than "I hate winter", "I'm sick of it", and "enough already". A good chunk of people do hold those views, but rest assured they do not represent the population as a whole. As for it being a big deal, meteorologically it is a BIG deal, and I'd expect people who are interested in weather and meteorology to show enthusiasm about such an unprecedented event, especially since the snowfall amounts would qualify as big stuff even in the middle of winter, let alone in early May.

Euro at it again with snow in the picture. May 14th time frame in New England. Widespread 6-9" VT/NH with 9"+Local.

Lets keep an eye on it to see how consistant it is. First it had the snow in Canada and Great Lakes area. Now New England.

So "IF" this happens like this...it would be a historic event especially in the Burlington area where the latest date of 1-3 inches of snow is May 9th. Latest for 6" is April 19th. But there has been traces of snow up until end of May. http://www.erh.noaa.gov/btv/climo/BT...e-erl-snow.pdf

It's long range and only shown once. Lets keep an eye on this. GFS00z had similar setup but lost it on the latest run

Interesting but yuck. I'm currently impressed with our weather pattern. Completely clear, 30°F + diurnal ranges every day.

What's the forecast up in your neck of the woods for today? 68°F/44°F at Harrisburg International Airport today. Slightly below average for me

It looks like a very interesting and cool event. I'd really like to see it play out, but...

...this is my standard operating procedure for all big events that pop up inconsistently in the long range. We'll just have to wait and see.

Well, it's not as if we've had a shortage of historic events lately .

73°F/35°F at Westover Air Force Base. By daily mean close to average, maybe a degree or two above.

Wow, very big diurnal range, very "Reno-like", the air must be done dry.

A jacket to T-shirt day for sure.

The air doesn't have to be particularly dry for a range like that. I sometimes see ranges like that here and the dewpoint over the day, will range between -2C and 12C (28-54F).
