Whoa. oh. god. I get the collywobbles in tornado season. And this is only the first tornado season! We have another one in autumn as well. Huge bang. TV aerial flew away about 2 minutes ago. Lightning just blew up a substation not far away but it was not for our power thankfully.

In case anyone is wondering, the same upper-level low that delivered snow earlier this month is still with us, producing the NYC rains:

Meanwhile, the Midwest is getting a soaking rain, with around half an inch expected in parts of Wisconsin, and about an inch of rain is expected in northern Illinois. Wind chills below 40F have virtually disappeared from the U.S. outside of mountainous areas, but there is a section of wind chills in the high 30's near Lake Superior. What a contrast to May 2. Of course that will change towards the middle of the month as frost spreads throughout the Midwest and Northeast. A mixture of rain and snow is a possibility in those same areas around Lake Superior around the 12th or so, so we're not completely done with the snow yet .

We're getting high-ish dewpoints, in the high 50s from this system.

Should be beautiful from my view here in Denver once the clouds clear I'm taking my boys up to the top of Pikes Peak in 3 weeks on the rail... they've never been.

As for Denver, lots of rain the past 24 hours, some nice thunder and lightning here and there. I didn't hear the totals, but pretty sure we've received over a half inch of rain. And no forecast for any freezing temps with highs in the mid 80s by early next week. I think winter finally lost!
