**It's Official** ...

CT is on the front page of NRCC website with the announcement of a new state snowfall record.

Ansonia 36" in 24hrs beats old Falls Village record of 30" Home :: Northeast Regional Climate Center

"The major winter storm that impacted areas of the Northeast in February may be a distant memory now that we are well into spring, but that storm is making history. The State Climate Extremes Committee recently approved a new all-time snowfall record for the state of Connecticut. An official Cooperative Observer station in Ansonia, CT received 36 inches of snow in 24-hours from February 8-9, 2013! This breaks the previous record of 30 inches on February 10, 1969 at Falls Village, CT. The committee examined the observation site and methods used before approving the new record"

Minneapolis is at 96f, so today's record of 95f is now broken. A few locations in southern Minnesota have reached 100f. Wow!

What a Spring. Another night in the 30s here. 36.2.

BDL in northern CT broke record low for the day. Normal is 47! They hit 32.

More amazing is, its 30s here and 50s just an hour south of me in NYC. LOL

Very cool write up why it was so Hot yesterday in Minnesota! Nice graphics including the one down below.

PDF file. http://www.crh.noaa.gov/images/mpx/N..._2013May14.pdf

In fact, this is the earliest date in the 142 year climate record that Minneapolis has ever reached 98F. There are three main ingredients that need to come together during the late afternoon hours in order for these record breaking heat events to occur. They are:
1) Warm air aloft
2) Dry conditions
3) Sunny skies

Saw the video. Weird combination. I couldn't get the video to go past 1 pm or so though.
