The State Climate Extremes Committee recently approved a new all-time snowfall record for the state of Connecticut. An official Cooperative Observer station in Ansonia, CT received 36 inches of snow in 24-hours from February 8-9, 2013! This breaks the previous record of 30 inches on February 10, 1969 at Falls Village, CT. The committee examined the observation site and methods used before approving the new record"
Did you guys watch the time lapse video?? How cool is that?? At first I thought the camera was moving (tree doesnt move) but then realized thats the Ice and water moving. I guess the winds made it move in different directions??? Very cool!!
In fact, this is the earliest date in the 142 year climate record that Minneapolis has ever reached 98F. There are three main ingredients that need to come together during the late afternoon hours in order for these record breaking heat events to occur. They are:
1) Warm air aloft
2) Dry conditions
3) Sunny skies
My god. It's like January! In fact some years we don't get any snow here so that's ridiculous!
