Found a good one for the Melbourne area. There's a place called Coldstream in the far NE of the metro area which sits well inland but is in a valley so gets cold nights but warm days. They had a low/high of 7.6C / 40.1C on January 17 this year, making it a 32.5C range.

One of the more impressive ones is 1.7 / 38.0C at Eyre in Western Australia on Dec 5, 2009.

The Australian record is also set at Eyre, where the temps were 6.8 / 44.2C (37.4C) on March 5, 2008.

Highest locally I have experienced is a low of 4C to a maximum of 35C, a 31 C range, in October last year at work in Singleton NSW.
Ranges of 20C are certainly not uncommon in spring.

The highest diurnal range recorded in Nice is 18.1°C - from 3.2°C to 21.3°C on Dec 16, 1962. Not very impressive compared to the previous posts though

In southeastern Oregon is a station called Juniper Lake. On May 2, 1968 they started the morning at 0F (-18C) and shot up to 81F (27.somethingC) that afternoon before the bottom fell out of the thermometer again to drop back down to 10F (-14). That next afternoon saw 80F and this wild diurnal temperature swing continued for two more days before sanity returned.
There were four consecutive days here with daily record morning lows followed by daily record high afternoon temperatures.

23.7C was the largest range in this region yesterday 7.5C-31.1C. I don't think most people are aware of large daily ranges when they happen.

Nice! The trend is reversed compared to Paris, with the biggest ranges in winter. Not surprising given the snowpack Lapland gets though.

Checked my stats. My annual average high low difference is 13°C. The spring months are slightly higher; 14°C. Sunny, dry days in spring tend to record the highest diurnal ranges as the combination of low dew point and high sunshine yields big day-night difference (think that's the reason).

The Greatest dirunal range in Australia is 37.4C, recorded in Eyre WA on 5th March 2008 according to Geo science Australia, from 6.8c to 44.2.

In Brisbane today its 9C, which is a very normal range for any time of the year.
