On the 17th of March 2014 in Bolzano there was a diurnal range of 23C°, they had a minimum of 5C° (41F°) and a maximum of 28C° (82.5C°), that was probably due to strong foehn winds which had already raised the temps the day before

That seems unusually cool for Massachusetts in the summer – in Canberra where my late uncle resided it has been minus 5°C (23°F) on many mornings for the past month then going up to a delightful 15°C (59°F) in the afternoon. I have read reports of one day in Santiago, Chile – in a huge climate crisis from losing it winter rainfall due to Australian greenhouse gas emissions and the lack of demand for a rigid zero-emissions target that could and should have been put upon Australia back in 1990 – going from minus 1°C (30°F) to 23°C 73°F).

Cool morning, but it happens in early or mid May, definitely not summer yet.

Speaking about record high/low in the same day, Oklahoma City recorded a low of 17F (-8C) and high of 83F (28C) on the 11/11/11 of 20th century, both record high/low for 11/11

Just out of curiosity, what's the record going the other direction? (Hot to cold)

For my PWS i had a new record for diurnal range on June 5th, 2015.
We started with a low of 10.2°C (50.4°F) and end up with a high of 31.0°C (87.8°F), that makes it a diurnal range of 20.8°C or 37.4°F.

That's the average daily diurnal range this time of year where I live.

Thats huge, our average daily diurnal range in the summer is only about 7°C.
In my dream climate i would like a little larger range of 12-14°C (which is the case in the more continental parts of Europe).
A high of 26°C/13°C would be the ideal balance for me, between pleasantly warm summer days and nights still being cool enough to sleep well. While here where i live its rather 21/14°C.
