A 40°F / 22.2°C variation is what I'd like. Low/Mid 50's in January and Low/Mid 90's in July/Aug.

No, my monthly mean for the warmest month is 17.5C. The mean of the coldest month is -5.2C, so that makes a difference of almost 23C between the warmest and coldest month.

Read again, I never said that the mean in my warmest month would be 23C.

It looks like you did because you don't mention, are you talking about two different climates here?

I was talking about my dream climate and my actual climate. Perhaps I was a bit unclear. My point was that in my actual climate the difference between the means of the warmest and coldest month is 23C, and in my dream climate it would be 25C. Still, my dream climate differs a lot from my real climate, though the variation between the coldest and warmest months are quite close to each other.

10-15 C variation for seasonal averages with record lows no lower than 12 C colder than the average low in the coldest month.
Ideal summer averages: 29 C/18 C
Ideal winter averages: 18 C/8 C
Record High: 43 C
Record low: - 3 C

I like a 10-15C difference. 32 in high summer and 18-20 in winter.
