Both cities have a climate that many people would call "mild" but mild on the colder side, but which one do you prefer overall?

I vote leeds but both are equal. I pick Leeds because I heard that PNW is bad for summer thunderstorms

Vancouver for the higher precipitation. Both are very pleasant climates though.

Leeds has around 8 - 10 days of thunder a year, on average. I'm not sure what the figures are for Vancouver. The first figures quoted on the Wiki article are derived from Leeds Bradford Airport at 208m asl, Leeds city centre varies from 29 - 60 metres or so above sea level so is significantly warmer throughout the year. I averaged the figures from Leeds Weather Centre between 1986 and 2003 and the average maximum in July was around 21.3C and the average minimum in January was above 2C - this is a city centre station.

Whichever way you cut it though, Vancouver is warmer all the time, and sunnier, but significantly wetter.
