(Yes, I have too much time on my hands.)

The country located on a large island roughly triangular in shape, and two smaller islands.
  • The North is mild and oceanic. The northwest coast is rather wet, while the northeast coast is drier. Some of the best wine in the world is grown in the northeast.
  • The Southwest is hot and dry. The further south one goes the drier and more Mediterranean the climate becomes. The desert between the southern coast and the mountain chain is the hottest part of the country.
  • The Southeast is warm and humid but only New Honolulu is truly tropical. The mountains in the southeastern peninsula are much lower than the main mountain chain but do form a kind of a rain shadow for cities to the east.
  • Though most of the island is either mild or warm, the mountains running parallel to the western coast feature some of the best ski resorts in the world. Winter Olympics have been hosted there more than once. The middle of the island features a dry or semiarid plateau. New Canberra is located on the edge of this plateau, and is the only major city not in the mountains that experiences sub-freezing nights in the winter. Along the coasts, frost or snow are unknown.

I got a little lazy and didn't make climate tables for each city, but I named them such that their climates are similar (though not identical) to real world locations whose names they borrow. I may add proper climate tables at a later date.

Until then, please comment on island as a whole and tell us where you would like to live.

(PS, yes I realize Newcastle, NSW is spelled as 1 word. I'm too lazy to go back and change it.)

New Canberra might get the hottest average max temps in summer being furthest inland and lowland. It would perhaps have more variation than the others and be fairly dry in winter in the rain shadow of the mountains to the west but get thundery downpours in summer.

Which Ocean is it in (and which part)? That will have quite an affect on the climates, like for instance if it was in the western pacfic vs the eastern pacifc. I also drew a map of my "fake continent" which I've shown on here before and that was in the western pacifc.

We did have a thread on here dedicated to maps of dream climates, on a related note.

I might need to adjust the color scheme a bit as New Canberra appears more lowland than it really is. I intended it to be at around 600 meters in elevation, not unlike the Australian capital. But you are right, is it probably the most continental location in the country.

The ocean is western Pacific though that is not 100% realistic. In this scenario, there is a cold current flowing along the west coast southward, and a warm current flowing westward alone the southern shore.

This is a new version. Moved Honolulu to leeward side of the island. New Canberra is better positioned on the plateau. Mountain lake called "New Lake Tahoe" added. Other cosmetic changes.

New Whistler sounds kinda interesting- would offer 4 seasons and variety without the extremes except maybe a little colder than I'd like. Maybe I'd prefer somewhere between New Whistler and New Auckland in terms of climate.

I like the idea of creating countries with maps and climate data . What map software did you use?

I do the exact same thing however I haven't got map on the computer just paper.

I'll try and create a map online when I have time maybe during the week.

My imginery continent is called Mainland Polynesia which conists of 2 countries Koronma which is the largest country. Ever rated Lonington, Dolbury, North Halton well its all in Koronma. Another smaller country called ''Dina'' located in the southwestern side of Koronma which includes Meda, New madrid and Medrina. which you may of rated.

I've been fixing and changing this continent for 4 years now i've written about almost everything about the continent from Fauna, Flora, culture, Climate, cities, population EVERY aspect.

Latitude range from 64 degrees north to 23 degrees north.

Oh I really went on
