I know that Dallol, Ethiopia is a miserable place partly due to poverty and politics but for the sake of this poll, let's pretend Dallol's climate is located in a first world nation with living standards similar to Singapore with plentiful air conditioning, first rate infrastructure, low crime, and a thriving economy for the sake of this poll. Let's pretend it's a city the same size as Portland with good communities for both singles and families. Good schools, good restaurants, nice malls, nightclubs, movie theaters, etc.
Now pick the climate that you'd prefer to live in:
Portland is an easy winner. Good summers ( a bit dry)and the winters, while not good aren't that bad either. It even has warmer winter nights than here.
Dallol is crazy hot. No amount of mod cons would make this an acceptable climate.
As much as I like heat.. Dallol is overkill. I'll take Portland.
Honestly, I'm a bit surprised...I thought a true heat lover would chose Dallol climate over a place with mild summers and damp rainy winters with occasional snow mixed in.
