Interesting, never expected you to rate a Melbourne summer highly. How often do you get decent summers like this? Was wondering why I wasn't seeing many of your red-faced posts (though I might have missed a few :P )

This has been one of the warmest summers in recent times. The only other Febuary as warm as this year's one was in 2001 which averaged a high of 29.0C. January was a disappointment as Melbourne missed out on the heatwaves (surprise surprise) but was sunny. This March is averaging higher than most Januaries and will end up a good 1C warmer than this January was both for highs and lows.

Sunshine was also plentiful over summer, to me it felt sunnier than any other summer in recent years.

As far as Melbourne's maritime oceanic climate is concerned, this summer is hard to beat overall.

November

Average High: 48 F (-5)
Average Low: 28 F (-2)
Highest: 67 F
Lowest: 19 F
Highest Min: 43 F
Lowest Max: 34 F

A: Nice and cool and a decent amount of snow. Though not quite blizzard conditions, I loved the heavy and blowing snow we experienced in early November.

December

Average High: 42 F (+1)
Average Low: 28 F (+5)
Highest: 64 F
Lowest: 17 F
Highest Min: 39 F
Lowest Max: 28 F

B: Not a lot of cold weather and snow, but not too bad of a month. Much better than December 2011.

January

Average High: 37 F (+1)
Average Low: 21 F (+4)
Highest: 63 F
Lowest: 6 F
Highest Min: 37 F
Lowest Max: 16 F

A: Lots of snow and cold weather. I was away for a week this month, so I missed the mildish temps. I came back just in time for an arctic outbreak. Loved having a week of sub-freezing temperatures.

February
Average High: 36 F (-3)
Average Low: 22 F (+2)
Highest: 51 F
Lowest: 3 F
Highest Min: 34 F
Lowest Max: 25 F

A: Plenty of cold and snow. Also loved that we only reached 51 F. Great month overall.

March

Average High: 43 F (-5)
Average Low: 28 F (+2)
Highest: 57 F
Lowest: 19 F
Highest Min: 39 F
Lowest Max: 34 F

A+: Best March in years, even better than 2011. Lots of snow and below average temperatures. Absolutely loving the cool/cold weather.
