2006 was a freak year here as well. Coldest March since the 60s, driest July on record, second sunniest July on record, wettest October and second gloomiest on record, December warmer than November and a surprisingly warm Autumn.

Without that October downpour the year would have been semi-arid! What a great year for a weather geek! Except for low thunderstorm activity.

And I totally agree we all have deserved a warm summer! Of course if we want it, and I sure do.

Yes, and virtually no sun during the last three months of the year!

July high in 2006 for my hometown (Gdansk, PL) was 26.4c and normally its around 21-22. There were 8 days of 30+ weather that month.
Summer was also very long, September average high was 21.1c and it should be 16.4c

I remember that summer really well, ahh i spent it on the beach almost everyday. and water temp in the baltic was 24c!
July 2010 was also hot in poland, it reached 37c in places. and had many days above 32.

Summer 2011 and 12 were so crap here in England! the only good thing was indian summer in 2011 that hit UK. it was the first time that i expreienced a 29c in October

I was working the whole summer, and was pretty annoyed when it was warm and sunny. But I rembember the water temperatures. After all that sun it was so warm and we used to go swimming even after a evening shift. But it was just too dry. Felt like Madrid.
The high of 18.7C in September was also pretty good for our standards, and had some 23C when it was almost October. Usually the month's high is 15-16C.

May, June, July, September and October all above average! August was only 1C or so below average so it was certainly a good year for warm and hot weather!
