Then there's people who wear shorts and a t-shirt even when it's freezing outside.

Same here, never been fond of the xeric look, although I do find the Western U.S. quite beautiful mostly because of the super tall mountains they have. I wish the Eastern U.S. had mountains like that.

I remember grinning at the sight of bare forests getting back to Paris by train last Easter. What a heart-warming sight it was:
Professor Ariete has the solution. Mixed forests!

I understand that more than wearing a full-blown scarf, coat and hats at 20 C.

Imagine living in the coldest part of Siberia, where for two or three months the temperature hover from -30 F to -70 F. Freezing is 60 to 100 degrees warmer than that. While the opposite down here, after experiencing months of 75-96 F weather, a 68 F low isn't THAT far below those temps. People down here are just melodramatic morons.

Or even being in Winnipeg where very cold stretches in Dec, Jan or Feb don't go above -15 C for weeks, 0 C is a good 15 C warmer, so I can see why people would find it warm.

Even in mild climates, some people wear shorts and t-shirts in freezing weather. I can't get one of my kids to wear shoes, even on mornings of -3/-4C.

I wouldn't even wear shorts and t-shirts now, let alone when it's literally freezing. Haven't seen anyone wearing t-shirts and shorts recently.

I could wear t-shirts and shorts down to about 50 F (10 C) if the sun is out. If the sun isn't out, below about 56 F or so I need a hoodie, but I can still wear shorts. Below 50 F I'd probably need to throw on some sweatpants. With the sun out, I'm fine with a hoodie and shorts down to about 40 F (4.4 C).

I usually wear shorts at freezing temperatures, because I know the day will get warm enough enough for them. I wear a fleece in the morning, but usually get down to a t-shirt on most winter days.

There were a lot of winter days like that when I lived in Tallahassee as well. It would be about 0 C in the morning and then up to 18-20 C in the afternoon. I would wear a hoodie with shorts in the morning, and be in shorts and a t-shirt during the afternoon.

Highs over the past week have ranged from 11C to 16C and I've worn at least a jacket on all of them. Every day has had sunshine, though there have been a few showers around. Added wind makes it feel cooler too, and the sun is rapidly losing strength.
