We have a humidex of 104F now, yesterday it hit 110F and our soccer game got cancelled.
The humidex works differently than the American heat index, usually it has higher numbers. The American heat index is closer to my perception of heat. The heat index will actually go down for very dry conditions, the humidex can only be higher than the air temperature.
Which makes sense to those used to humid summers. If it's say, 88°F any humidity one gets creates a feel of a hotter temperature, that's bizarre. What is 88°F supposed to feel like. then?
The temperatures this week have fallen a lot once it reaches 18:00, last week it was still 25C by this time. Lower humidity might be to blame.
