20c at 70n in May is just ludicrous.

I'm home, so Turku it is. What source said 22C? Well, the Finnish met office said 24C, so they were a bit pessimistic as well.

Actually they are up to 24C right now. The forecast says a high of 24C tomorrow as well.

Nice to have a west-east split in temps for once to our benefit. For the past week or so southeastern Finland has been much warmer than we have.

Maybe I should go and take some spring pics. Already off for the weekend, but I don't know what to do right now.

Yes, this situation is now since a few days, but seem to be accentuated. The division line of the two air masses seems to be now satying about along a Hambourg/Munich line. The constrast seems very sharp near hambour where at few kilometers (probably less than 50) they swich from about 24°C to 10°C !!

Here, 16°C at 14H30, still below the average. It has been more than two weeks that we have been below those averages.

Concerning the "green" temepratures in central Spain, we do not have to forget that not all Spain has a mediterranean climate, it is not only a question of latitude; but it is not surprising that the central plateaus of Castillas (which made most of inalnd Spain) has quite a important altitude and is quite isolated from the regularing influences of the mediterranean area (those plateaus are cutted to the seas by montaine ranges). For the same reasons, these areas can be very hot in summer.

The first map is crazy, Spain is extremely cold for the time of year. It's like January in Andalucia, Madrid must be awful too!

It's got be the West's turn for some heat soon!
