Colorado weather is highly variable. But it would be a rare year for Denver not to have snow in May. The mountain snowpack reaches its average maximum depth on May 25th. Denver has recorded -5 on Oct. 31st and 75 on Dec. 23rd. Mountain areas ar just as unpredictable but snow is far more common. With the exception of the extreme eastern edge of the state every county has recorded snow in every month of the year. Many counties, including Boulder, part of the Denver metro area, experience snow almost every month of every year.
That said, I'd rate Colorado as having the best climate in the country and one of the best in the world. I lived there for thirty-five years; I left because of a political shift, not a meteorological shift.
