So an F goes to Chicago.
Lol, you've rated Kharkiv's climate, which is colder than Chicago's, as E.

The reason why I voted as F for Chicago is that Chicago seems to be more continental to me.
The difference between summer temps and winter temps in Chicago is larger than Kharkiv.

C
Great 4 season climate with 4 distinct seasons, but I don't like cold.

Chicago can at times be very sheltered from the heat thanks to Lake Michigan if there is an on shore breeze. This was a forecast from last July. Notice how much cooler it was on the shore when compared to inland suburbs

Some interesting facts and records

Highest average temperature on record occured last July at Midway Airport with a Mean temp of 82.6F/28

Yup usually cold in the winter just the way I like it!

Check out some of the low temps reached in the Chicago metro area back in Jan 2009

And here are selected record absolute minimum temps within a 90km radius of the city of Chicago

Luckily we average between 45-50 days a year above 30C which balances it out for my personal tastes

We also average around 90 days a year at or above 27C/80F

Our summers have been getting warmer

Our suburbs have reached average highs up to 38C in July

This is a map of record absolute max temps within a 90km radius of the city of Chicago

Midway airport was not always the official station in Chicago. From 1871 to 1941 the official thermometer was locate right on the lakeshore which masked many heat waves that occurred further inland from the lake

I didn't realise Chicago was that hot during summer. Heatwaves are much longer and more extreme than say NYC for instance. I've spent a summer in NYC, is Chicago similar or noticeably hotter and more humid?

Thanks.

^^

A bit more humid, more like Philadelphia. We also see a wider range of extreme temps in all seasons than NYC. I don't know of any location along the East Coast that has reached 46.7C at it did within 90km of Chicago...

Chicago is also getting more muggy during the summer

Another illustration of Lake Michigan's cooling effects on the city and shoreline communities from last June
