Both O'Hare and Midway have record low maximum temps of -11F/-23.9C. Many (too many to list) suburban stations have a record of -14F/-25.6C with most being set on January 19th 1994

McHenry Station in the far north suburbs just south of the Wisconsin state line, had a record low max of -15F/-26.1C on that date.

-20°C as a maximum? That was more likely the minimum temperature of that day, but still quite impressing.

Edit: Lowest i could find in the Berlin Area is Berlin-Schoenefeld with -10.5°C/ 13°F

-8.8C in Bingley on 12 January 1987. As far as I am aware we were the coldest place in the country on what turned out to be the coldest day of the 20th century in England, though individual sites have had lower maxima under localised freezing fog conditions.

I already did Portsmouth's earlier in the thread, so now for Malta...

Couldn't find any records for Luqa or Valletta, but lowest ever daytime high at Balzan is 7.9C in February 2008...
