Why would that be though? Winter maximums are comparable, as is sunshine. But it's the supposedly more Oceanic climate, that gets the colder minimums.

Are fogs common in Portugal during winter?

Another pleasant climate. Lots of decent climates in Portugal and Spain. Of course they're warmer and sunnier than ideal, but they're not bad at all.

Hmmm C from me. I like the summer temps but winters are too mild. Precipitation is nice except July and August.
