The strong ridge over nw canada will build over interior alaska
through wed forming a blocking high over interior alaska that will
persist through next weekend. This will cause warming and drying
over the next several days with hot temperatures continuing into
next week.

A short wave trough over the north slope will move north of the
coast today. Scattered showers are associated with the trough.

A second short wave trough in the yukon stretching from burwash
landing to mayo will move to northway to dawson by 4pm sun...to
tok to eagle by 4am mon...and to denali to circle by 4pm mon...and
to the central interior mon night. Expect scattered showers along
this trough today. Expect isolated thunderstorms along the trough
through mon night.

850 mb expect temps to rise 4c today and another 2-3c mon. By mon
most of interior above 10c and above 16c in the se interior. By
wed 20c is possible which would equate to records highs in the 90s if
it occurs.

NWS now has a forecast of 93°F for Fairbanks (original forecast 87°F). NWS was too cautious.
