The averages for Oslo have been tampered with. I think their winter averages are a bit colder than that.

that most of the southern half of england (except london, with its huge UHI-advantage) have warmer summers than oslo in a fair 1981-2010 comparision.

It's still cooler than here, and I'm in the South West.
The South East is warmer still.

I don't get where you're going with this.

If Oslo does have an average high of 22C, then it's warmer than most of the UK, definitely, and maybe most of England. Even the June average high of 20C is warmer than a good chunk of England - certainly warmer than here. Oslo is around the same as Yeovil in June and July, but cooler in August.

Cambridge - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Southampton - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ipswich - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

All warmer, all are away from London.

Most of the southern and eastern parts of England average 22C in July. Most of these places will also reach 22C in August too. June is very similar though I agree.
