Impressive weather happening. Thanks for keeping us in tune. Blizzard Warning is up for Indiana until 7am. BTW... Chicago all time low Max is -11F which you probably mentioned. Tomorrow chance to beat that.

ACCUMULATIONS OF 10 TO 16 INCHES ARE EXPECTED.

WITH GUSTS TO 40 MPH THIS EVENING. THIS WILL CAUSE SEVERE
BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW OVERNIGHT WITH BLIZZARD CONDITIONS.

5 BELOW AND 15 BELOW ZERO. DEADLY WIND CHILLS BETWEEN 30

Speaking of power issues, I haven't heard much about the power grid in the U.S. There's going to be a lot of people with their heat on down to the Gulf coast. I wonder how the grid will hold up.

Yup, our all time low max might indeed be broken tomorrow! Record is -11F/-23.9C. We might only reach -26.1C at O'Hare!!

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Also, the low temp of -16F/-26.7C at O'Hare might be conservative. That all depends how much clearing we see over night.

This model has us colder

Storm snowfall totals for Chicago’s airports through 6pm

O’Hare International Airport 11.5 inches

Midway Airport 9.1 inches

Chicago’s Morgan Park neighborhood (not too far from the Indiana border) 13.5 inches

Northwest Indiana is almost impassible

The warm-up we're experiencing here in the Eastern US is annoying and interesting at the same time. Roller coaster. The plunge tomorrow will be something. Roughly 40 F/4 C to 0 F/-18 C.

Currently 30 F/-1 C with fog. Light glaze of ice outside. Ice Storm Warnings in Pennsylvania and Maryland. Looks like a warm-up is coming this weekend. January thaw...hopefully a weak one.

...ICE STORM WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT EST TONIGHT...

* LOCATIONS...SOUTH CENTRAL MOUNTAINS

* HAZARD TYPES...FREEZING RAIN.

* ACCUMULATIONS....WIDESPREAD ONE-QUARTER TO ONE-HALF OF AN INCH.

* TIMING...TEMPERATURES ARE SLOWLY WARMING TO ABOVE FREEZING...BUT
WILL TAKE A FEW MORE HOURS TO DO SO EVERYWHERE. EXPECT AREAS OF
FREEZING RAIN TO LAST THROUGH MIDNIGHT.

* IMPACTS...ICY AND TREACHEROUS CONDITIONS. TRAVEL IS DISCOURAGED.
POWER OUTAGES MAY BE WIDESPREAD.

* TEMPERATURES...SLOWLY WARMING INTO THE MID 30S.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while, I was back home for winter break and was either working, with family or friends the entire time so I didn't get much time to post here. But I'm back in Tallahassee now and very cold weather (by our standards) is on its way, Tuesday is supposed to have a high of 35, and a low of 18

On the contrary, the timing couldn't be any more perfect

You're supposed to be in record-breaking territory tomorrow though, highs around 0 F predicted.
