TWC's November and winter outlook

Uploaded with ImageShack.us
Looking at all the maps... I think winter will start late this year in much of the USA. Not because October has been so warm, more because there seems to be so little storm activity this fall. It's these low pressure areas that seem to draw the cold air down out of Canada on their backside. If they don't happen that often, it seems as if we would see less cold air down here in the states.

The snow has been working on us during the night time and last night was a decent snow for this time of year. Took the picture this morning just before 8am. The lake effect kept rolling in last night and through this morning before the sun took over.

Now the NWS put us under a Lake Effect snow advisory for tonight until 10am. Calling for another 2-3" with local higher amounts. My sister who's lived here for about 25yrs said typically we get snow in Oct, but doesn't stick around. She's never seen snow come in like this so early in the season. As we go further into Nov, that will give us an indication how this season shapes up. I bet the ski resorts here are already salivating at the possibility prospect of a robust winter.

Looks we're quite far from the snowy paradise this season:

Yuck:

Why on earth can't those ever go that December and January normal or slightly cooler and February and March warmer or much warmer? In December-January when the days are short and it's midwinter I want snow. But noooooo, it starts to form in late February!

Hopefully it's wrong. I am willing to sacrifice snow here if it means you guys get a normal or cold winter, as opposed to a mild one.
