Binghamton NY office had a record low of 36 this morning and frost. Add them to the list.of areas with a September frost this year. And also.. frost is possible down in southern NY , CT and cold spots of Long Island Tuesday according to NWS NY.

Record low temperature at the Binghamton Regional Airport this morning.

Here at the office the low temperature was 36. This broke the old record of 38 set in 1975. This is just 4 days after Binghamton had record high temperatures last Wednesday! It will be much warmer tonight with clouds and a few showers late. Monday night and Tuesday night, temperatures will fall back into the 30s with patchy frost for the colder valleys of the twin tiers, and the Catskills to the Tug Hill in NY

There can be frost on the ground as high as 36 or 37 degrees.

It's a ground frost, not an air frost, but there can still be frozen water on surfaces above 32 degrees, which is what the NWS office reported.

Yes it is. If frost forms on the ground it's a real frost. 32°F isn't the frost formation indicator.
