And yet would still be considered a notably cold month here. It must've had some shocking temps as well.

Our average first 20c date is 1st week of April. The accuweather forecast would be the 3rd longest wait for 20c, after 1983 and 2016.

You mean by the Mean temp, because my average high was 9.2C which is 0.8C warmer than an average February in London (lower latitude, higher sun angle but still higher diurnal range in temps). Dont forget we had an average high of 19.2C over a 6 day period, something London can never achieve in the winter or even in November and March.

I wonder if there was a summer month in London that actually had a higher average max than an average summer month here? I highly doubt it has London ever even had 4 or more 20C+ days in March? Also, what is the record number for April?

Your February 2017 high would not even get a mention here (and the rolling 30 year average high for Feb is 8.9c). Come back when you get an average low above 5c in any winter month.

Calendar month, no. 30 day period, yes. We can certainly average 19c for 6 days in March (we averaged 19.7c over 7 days in March 2012). Our coldest March on record was warmer than Chicago's average March.

March 2012 had 4 days above 20c. April 2011 had 15.

Not even the 22C highs and the week straight of 20C temps? Really? They won't get a mention.

Won't ever happen

Wait what? What do you mean 30 day period?

My averages (IKK which is 5 miles from where I live) are as follows

June: 27.9C
July: 29.5C
Aug: 28.6C

As for the city itself (MDW)

June:27.1C
July: 29.3C
Aug: 28.2C

Certainly? I went back and other than 2012 which did surpass 19C (highest being only 22.8C), I couldn't find any other March months that had a 6 day stretch.

And our warmest March is well above your average April and close to your average May

Only 4 days? We average 3 in March and had 15 days at or above 68F/20C in 2012

30 day period is a month that doesn't line up with a calendar month. A 30 day spell in June-July 1976 had an average high of 29.3c. Another in July/August 1995 was also 29c.

The 20c days would obviously get a mention, as would the extreme cold, but I was referring to the Feb avg high of 9.2c.

This exchange is a perfect example of why people always say that you try to antagonise UK posters.

As I stated, you never had a summer month with a higher average max than here.

So why then are you coming off as if the temps that we had in Feb would be "cold"?

So this didn't deserve a comment back from me?

When you know that this February'sax temps smashed anything London has seen, and that our monthly average high is higher than the 30 year norm for London

Also, I still haven't found another month with a 6 day stretch of 19C+ high in March. Have you?

Just doing what you do every summer wen we have a warmer than average month.

Your February 2017 had a mean of 36-38f, which is cold.

I only needed to find 1 March, you doubted that it could happen, I showed you that it has happened. I'm sure March 1957, 1961 would compete. March 1997, 2003 were warm but were sustained mildness rather than a mix of cold and warm days.

Sorry can't help it if even an above normal summer month in London seems chilly to me.

MDW had a mean of 39.7F... I'm not denying that the Mean would be considered cold by your standards.

But we had 9 days at or above 16C+ in February. There is no way that these temps wouldn't get noticed in London.

So in other words it's extremely rare.

Who cares about the highest temp of the month? July 2015 recorded the hottest July day on record here, but the rest of the month was mostly cool and cloudy (take away the first week and the average max would be below 22c). Nobody remembers July 2015 being a good summer month.

I said that the 20c days would be noticed, along with the extreme cold. The average max is nothing special though (for the 3rd time).
