highest 128 F (50 C)
  • (May 16th, 2006) Death Valley. this was the temp on our rental car thermometer tho the official temp at the visitor's center was 122 on that day.
lowest -39 F (-39 C)

  • (Feb 2nd, 1996) East Central Minnesota. this was the recorded low at the nearest town for that night. I'm certain our actual temp was lower by several degrees as it usually is in our low spot. This date also saw the record low temp for any date in Minnesota (and the lower 48) when it hit -70 in Tower, which is about 150 miles north.
I've frequently been out in -50 and below windchill and it was in 1977 that a couple of buddies and I went downhill skiing when the wind chills were reportedly close to -60.

Highest (no heat index): Houston, late 80s, 105F or 41C

Lowest (no wind chill): between Timmins and Kapuskasing in northeastern Ontario: -47C or -53F

Windchill at one point was -67C or -89F! No joke!

Where I live in southern Canada I have seen -34C or -29C, and also windchills of -50C or -58F.

I have also seen at my house on the same thermometer but in summer, as hot as 38C or 100F, and humidex (Canadian version of heat index) or 50C or 122F.

Coldest - probably somewhere in the region of -30C, in Alberta, Canada.

Warmest - Upper 40s/Low 50s in Death Valley, CA.

+35°C in southern Poland and -35°C at home. Nice and symmetrical. I definitely prefer the cold.

Many people say after a certain point there is no difference in cold.

Not true for me.

I can detect 5 degree f differences all the way from 0 down to -40

I've experienced a high of 0C (or somewhere around that) in a snowy Amman. That was like in the 90s (I was a kid) - wouldn't remember the exact temperature.

I've experienced 46C here in Sydney, but dunno which year exactly.

I have seen, but not physically experienced (through my window - does that count?), -2C temperature in late June (or early July) in 2010. I woke up early in the morning and saw frost on our roofs and cars (again, in Sydney).

Didn't Sydney set their all time record high last year?

Yes it did, 45.8C on January 18th 2013, which beat the long standing record of 45.3C in Jan 1939.
We only had 44.5C on that day in my neck of the woods, although it did say 45.0 in the car on the way home from work.
Official highest I have experienced is 45.0C in Singleton NSW - Upper Hunter where I work, in Nov 2009.

-20°C / -4°F in a walk in freezer.
51°C / 123.8°F in a hot car.

As for weather related temperatures, no idea.
