I went for a little drive this morning, to Serra da Estrela(2000 meters above sea level, highest point in continental portugal), my hometown is at the base of this mountain, in the northern tip.
I left home with 2ºC at 8am
Penhas da Saúde 1400 mts above sea level
1930meters above sea level here
Highest located valley in Portugal, at 1200/1500 meters, one day I'll plant a weather station here, I got -1.5ºC here at 9am in the car thermometer
Here is the view from my front door. It's been raining every day lately, but snowing just above my house. The local ski hill has 2 feet of snow right now.
If it wasn't for the fact that I wouldn't want to live in snow, having a ski area a few minutes drive away would be awesome. I've got an 80 minute drive for skiing which isn't too bad, but it is still a bit of a drive after a days skiing.

Silverstar (the link is in my post). It is 20 minutes away from Vernon.
I was referring to West Virginia. I've been to Vermont many times (it's 30 miles away). Biked there, too. Most recent time is shown in these photos. And here's a winter hike I did up Vermont's second highest peak.
I did go to Lake Sherwood in West Virginia during August 2012. At 4000 ft, the high temperature up there was just 54 F. 20 miles downhill in Virginia, temps were in the low 90's. Here is a picture of the lake:
Looks like Buxton England in the summer. Apparently, 79 % of the summer days up here are overcast, cool, and rainy. What do you think Meteo Man .
The view looking to my north compared to my south. Clear blue with Fair Weather Cirrus clouds to the north and Cloudy to South towards Long Island
