Certainly a summer-like pattern setting up over Australia for the first week of spring with a large high over the Tasman and a deep low to the south with resulting strong northerly flow over southern parts.

oh right. I thought that it was like in the Northern hemisphere were they followed the equinox? But I guess not.
I suppose it's probably like Alaska having winter in May.
